CRITERIA:

In order to apply for a Sachs Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship, applicants must fit the following, qualifying criteria:

A) A Black high school student in their senior year

B) A full-time Colorado resident for a minimum of three years. Residence due to military orders to Colorado may be accepted on a case by case basis

INSTRUCTIONS:

Applications will be available online through the link below between January 1st and March 15th of each year. As part of your application, you will be asked to submit the following, required materials:

A) Your full high school transcript

B) Two letters of recommendation from persons not related to you

C) A one page personal statement (350-500 words) and an additional essay response

D) Your Student Aid Report (SAR). You can obtain your SAR by filling out your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if you haven't already done so, at www.fafsa.gov

E) An additional educational, artistic, or professional file personal to you (optional)

This scholarship is ONLY available to Sachs Foundation undergraduate scholarship recipients who will, or have, received their undergraduate degree within the last three years. A total of $12,500 ($2,500 per year for up to 5 years) will be awarded to partnership scholars who meet the selection and renewal criteria. Students may receive this award for up to a total of ten (10) semesters, or until their degree is complete, whichever comes first. A total of $12,500 ($2,500 per year for up to 5 years) will be awarded to partnership scholars who meet the selection and renewal criteria. Students may receive this award for up to a total of ten (10) semesters, or until their degree is complete, whichever comes first.

Eligibility

A) Students must meet ONE of the following criteria:

1) Participated in one of the CSU Partnership Programs

2) Graduated from an Alliance High School (see details under Alliance High School Partnership)

3) Recipient of a Denver Scholarship Foundation scholarship

4) Graduate from Rangeview High School AND participated in the College Track Colorado program

5) Graduated from KIPP Denver Collegiate High School

AND

B) Be admitted to full-time degree seeking program on Colorado State University's main campus for the fall term. CSU Online students are not eligible and awards are not made to students starting in the Spring nor Summer terms.

C) Submit a complete application for admission by the priority date of February 1. Admitted students (who met the February 1 application date) can submit new test scores and transcripts until March 1 to strengthen their application for admission, however funding may be limited after February 1.

Students who have been involved with more than one organization but will receive only one Partnership Award.

Eligible students, who are offered an award, need to accept their award in the Financial Aid section of RAMweb.

The Evans Scholarship is a full tuition and housing college scholarship for high-achieving caddies with limited financial means. To qualify, caddies must meet the requirements of having a strong caddie record, excellent academics, demonstrated financial need and outstanding character.

Scholarship applications are accepted at the beginning of an applicant's senior year of high school, as well as from college freshmen.

The entire application – including supporting documents like evaluations, recommendation letters, transcripts, test scores, a CSS profile and FAFSA information – are expected to be completed by October 30. The Scholarship Committee will begin its review when the application is complete. The Committee will interview finalists, and the final selection rests with the Committee. All decisions will be finalized by April 1.

Scholarship Requirements

A) Strong caddie record: Applicants must have caddied, regularly and successfully, for a minimum of two years and are expected to caddie at their sponsoring club the year they apply for the Scholarship.

B) Excellent academics: Applicants must have completed their junior year of high school with above a B average in college preparatory courses. The ACT and SAT will be optional for 2021 applicants.

C) Demonstrated financial need: Applicants must clearly have a need for financial assistance.

D) Outstanding character: Applicants must be outstanding in character, integrity and leadership.

Application Timeline

August 1: Application available online. Review the information on the website.

October 1: CSS Financial Aid Profile becomes available. Please complete the CSS Profile online and submit to CSS along with the required fee as soon as possible. The Evans Scholars Foundation CSS code is 0153. You can also file FAFSA online on October 1. Please submit a copy of your completed FAFSA Federal Student Aid Report with the Expected Family Contribution (EFC) number when it becomes available.

October 30: Applications are expected to be completed, including all supporting documents (completed CSS Profile, FAFSA Federal Student Aid Report, High School Evaluation, Caddie Evaluation, letters of recommendation, high school transcript and test scores).

April 1: All application decisions are finalized.
