West Yellowstone Foundation Scholarship Program

Introduction
These scholarships are funded annually through the West Yellowstone Foundation, the Siegel Family Scholarship Fund, the Cross Charitable Foundation and other private gifts and grants. Awards are intended to help students pay for accredited programs, including: four- or five‑year college/university degrees, two‑year college degrees, trade or vocational certificate programs, and approved online courses.
Award details
- Up to $5,000 per year when funds are available (renewable up to four years; maximum total award up to $20,000).
- Scholarships may be renewed each year for a maximum of four years of post‑secondary study (a fifth year may be approved only if your degree specifically requires it — documentation is required).
- Awardees may postpone (defer) use of the scholarship for up to two years after high school graduation, but applicants must submit their application while still a graduating high school senior.
- The education program supported by the scholarship must be finished within six years of the high school graduation date.
Recipient responsibilities and enrollment requirements
- Full‑time status is determined by the recipient’s school or certificate program (typically defined as at least 12 credits per semester).
- Scholarship recipients must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 while enrolled.
- Any changes in enrollment (for example: taking a gap year, changing institutions, withdrawing, etc.) must be reported in writing to the West Yellowstone Foundation as soon as possible. Send notifications to: ed@wyfmt.org.
Eligibility criteria
- Must be a current senior who will graduate from West Yellowstone High School this school year.
- Must have attended West Yellowstone School during both junior and senior years.
- Community service: completion of 40 hours of community service, verified by the West Yellowstone School counselor.
- Academic thresholds:
- Planning to attend a trade, technical, vocational program or a two‑year college: minimum cumulative high school GPA of 2.5.
- Planning to attend a four‑ or five‑year college/university: minimum cumulative high school GPA of 3.0. Alternatively, applicants may qualify by providing documentation showing a 3.5 GPA for their junior and senior years (proof required at graduation).
