Ike Foundation Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by Ike Foundation
Overview
The Ike Foundation offers scholarships to graduating high school seniors who will be enrolled full time at an accredited two- or four-year college or university in the United States. Awards are granted based on scholastic performance, a demonstrated record of volunteer service (preference given to work related to fishing or conservation), and a personal essay addressing the foundation’s prompt.
Selection process
All applications are evaluated by The Ike Foundation Scholarship Committee through a blind, merit-driven review. A uniform point-scoring system is used to promote fairness and objectivity, and the committee’s decisions are final.
Permitted uses of scholarship funds
Award money must be used for expenses directly related to your education, such as tuition, fees, required course materials (books and supplies), or equipment needed for classes.
Eligibility
To be eligible for The Ike Foundation College Scholarship, applicants must meet all of the following requirements:
- Be a current high school senior.
- Be a U.S. citizen or an eligible non-citizen.
- Intend to enroll as a full-time, degree-seeking student at a two- or four-year college or university in the United States.
- Show a history of volunteer involvement that benefits the community; volunteer work connected to fishing or conservation is preferred.
- Hold a cumulative GPA of at least 3.2. (An unofficial transcript is acceptable to establish eligibility; if selected, you will be required to submit an official transcript.)
- Provide at least one letter of recommendation from a present teacher, coach, or school administrator.
- Furnish written proof of acceptance from the college or university you plan to attend.
Essay requirement
Applicants must submit a five-paragraph essay responding to the following prompt:
- Describe the influence that fishing and the outdoors have had on your life to date. What are your aspirations for the future of fishing and the outdoor environment?
Please write the essay in your own words. While artificial intelligence tools may be used as a reference, the foundation expects original personal responses; all submissions will be screened with AI detection software.
Important
Applications that do not include an essay addressing the required prompt will not be considered.
